According to Nice’s public prosecutor who informed AFP on Thursday, Wissam Ben Yedder, Monaco’s France striker, is being investigated for rape.
The claimed event occurred on Monday in the village of Beausoleil on the Cote d’Azur, just north of Monaco.
Xavier Bonhomme, a public prosecutor, affirmed “the existence of two allegations of rape, from two victims, targeting two people.
“We don’t know who the second person concerned is,” he added.
Ben Yedder, 32, made his final game for France in June 2022 and was present earlier this month as Monaco began preseason training.
Speaking on the allegations, Monaco stated they “became aware of the information published today involving Wissam Ben Yedder.
“As the affair is subject to a judicial process the club is not in a position to make any comment.”
During his tenure in Sevilla, Ben Yedder was convicted of tax fraud by a Spanish court in April and sentenced to six months in prison suspended and a fine of 133,798 euros ($149,753).
