The Super Eagles goalkeeper, who was Watford’s second-choice goalkeeper last season, is now a step behind Ben Hamer, who is now the club’s second-choice goalie this season.
The Nigerian is yet to make the Watford squad for pre-season, and having missed both friendlies against National League side Boreham Wood and their 1-1 draw with Arsenal last week, his absence raises further doubts about his future, which appears to be away from Vicarage Road.
According to the Watford Observer, Okoye and Watford are both open to the possibility of a permanent transfer this summer.
