West Ham are in negotiations with Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus about a lucrative transfer to London Stadium.

The 23-year-old scored a hat-trick on Thursday in Ajax’s Europa League play-off triumph over Ludogorets in Bulgaria.

The Hammers were represented at the game, with the Ghana international claiming afterwards that it may have been his final game for the Dutch team.

This summer, Premier League teams have shown a lot of interest in Kudus.

Brighton were said to have struck a deal with Ajax for the Ghanaian international earlier this month, but personal conditions could not be finalized.

Kudus began his professional career in 2018 with Danish club Nordsjaelland before joining Ajax in 2020, where he has scored 27 goals in 87 games and helped his team to two Dutch league titles.

Last season, he scored 11 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances for Ajax, who finished third.

Kudus has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Ghana since making his debut in 2019. He started all three games for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over South Korea.

He might become manager David Moyes’ second summer signing from Ajax after the acquisition of fellow midfielder Edson Alvarez in a deal for over £35 million.

West Ham also signed Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse and Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos earlier this month.
