Renowned Nigerian journalist Oseni Rufai has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his nationwide broadcast on Sunday.
Tinubu, in a statewide broadcast on Sunday, spoke on the lingering hunger protest ongoing nationwide.
The President urges the protesters to end their protest, noting that he will address their grievances.
However, in a statement on Sunday, Oseni lamented that Tinubu’s speech is not different from the speech he made last year.
He mentioned that the president’s speech is full of ”same promises” with little or no ”execution.”
”President Tinubu’s speech wasn’t different from the one he made last year, in July; the same promises, not too much execution.
”The president should give us interviews. We want to test his understanding of things; same-rehearsed speeches don’t cut it,” Oseni said.
Oseni added that the Nigerian leader should have spoken about his commitment ”to cutting the cost of governance and reducing his ministers,” pushing for electoral reforms and a reduction in crude oil theft.
Furthermore, Oseni mentioned that the President should have promised to reducing the cost of running the presidency, ”bring about judicial reforms,” ”improve the security situation with practical steps,” and ”cultivate more food with practical steps.”
