Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan fueled speculation on Saturday that she was about to defect when she posted a viral video of herself dancing to music praising President Bola Tinubu.
In a 15-second video shared to her TikTok channel, Natasha was seen chuckling as she repeatedly played a song by popular Kano artist Dauda Kahutu, also known as Rarara.
The musician had regaled the president with a rendition of his new Yoruba song titled “Asiwaju Omo Ologo” during a dinner event hosted in Katsina during his official visit.
Asiwaju Omo Ologo translates as ‘Asiwaju the glorious child’.
Natasha’s action has left her followers perplexed, with many wondering if she wants to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Chronicle NG could also not independently confirm whether her modest gesture is an endorsement of an impending defection or another parody intended to humiliate the APC-led government.
Attempts to elicit a comment from the Kogi senator were fruitless.
Her media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, could also not be reached on the phone for clarification.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 after a violent debate with Senate leadership over a new seating arrangement, which she said was intended to undermine her.
Tensions erupted when she accused Senate President Akpabio on national television of punishing her for declining his alleged sexual advances.
During the Women in Parliament session at the Inter-Parliamentary Union summit in New York, Akpoti-Uduaghan advocated for international action to hold the Nigerian Senate accountable.
However, on Sunday, two days after leading a federal government delegation to the Vatican, the Kogi Central senator sent a humorous ‘Apology Letter’ to the Senate President’s office.
