Troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have eliminated a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) informant during a nighttime ambush in Borno State.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday, was part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV and took place in the Karagawaru area of Kaga Local Government Area.
Military sources revealed that the ambush was executed by the 29 Task Force Brigade, acting on “credible intelligence.”
According to the sources, “the troops strategically positioned themselves at a suspected crossing point.”
“At approximately 12:30 a.m., they observed and engaged the suspect, believed to be gathering intelligence for Boko Haram and its ISWAP faction,” the source said.
The suspect was neutralised during the encounter. Troops recovered a locally fabricated Dane gun and a bicycle suspected to have been used for reconnaissance and movement.
The soldiers reportedly returned to base at around 3:40 a.m. without any casualties, marking a successful tactical operation in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the northeast.
