A Nigerian divorce lawyer, Chisom Agbafor, has lamented over the increasing spate of divorce in the country.
In a statement on X on Friday, Agbafor lamented over the causes of divorce in the country, which she blamed on lack of adequate sex, affection, and emotional bankruptcy.
She mentioned that many women go years without sex in their marriages, a pivotal reason leading to the crash of many marriages in the country.
Agbafor, a resident of Lagos State who described the crash of marriages as “really unsettling,” urged intending couples not to marry if they intend not to show their partner love.
Agbafor said, ”As a lawyer in Lagos, I have been involved in enough divorce cases to say this without blinking:
”There are a lot of couples who are in sexless, affectionless, emotionally bankrupt marriages.
”In fact, hearing a woman say, ‘He hasn’t touched me in 2 years’ is really unsettling.”
She added that ”lack of understanding, honest communication, and unmet emotional needs are the main causes of emotional disconnection in marriages.”
