Former military governor of Oyo State, Brigadier General Adetunji Idowu Olurin (retd) has passed on at the age of 77.
Brig. Gen. Olurin was the military governor of Oyo state between 1985 and 1988. He was the Field Commander of ECOMOG Peacekeeping Force in Liberia from 1992 to 1993 during the First Liberian Civil War.
Olurin retired from service in 1993 and until his death, was a member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was administrator of Ekiti State from October 8, 2006 until April 27, 2007.
The one-star general was the PDP’s governorship candidate in the 2011 general election in Ogun State.
He was an indigene of Ilaro, Ogun state.
Olurin’s death was disclosed by his brother, Funso Olurin who revealed that the septuagenarian died after a brief illness at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
