Cult groups have renewed their hostility in Ijoko, a suburb of Ogun State, Southwest, Nigeria leaving five people dead.
The cause of the fight between Eiye and Aiye confraternity groups is not known but the Ogun State Police Public Relation Officer Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said 13 persons have been arrested in connection with the killings, adding that, investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
“Yes, I am aware of the killings we have arrested 13 people so far and we are also carrying out investigations”.
In the past, Ijoko has been a battle ground for cultists before the police wade in and the area became calm but there has since been a resurgence leaving residents in fear.
The fight between these two rival cult groups have also made many residents to flee the area and many shops closed.
All attempt to speak with Sango Area Commander of the Nigeria Police ACP Muyideen A. Obe have proved abortive as he did not pick his call or reply to the text message sent to him.
