Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will present the winner of the Ondo governorship primary election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, with his certificate of return on Monday.

The party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday.

“Yes, the presentation of the certificate to Governor Aiyedatiwa will take place tomorrow (Monday) at the national secretariat in Abuja,” he told reporters.

Duru did not specify whether it will take place before, during, or after the National Working Committee meeting, which is also scheduled for Monday.

The development comes three days after the APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, urged disgruntled aspirants who took part in the shadow poll to support the governor in order to form a united front ahead of the governorship election on November 16.

Governor Usman Ododo’s Primary Election Committee pronounced Ayiedatiwa the winner on Sunday following polling in all 18 local government areas of the state.

However, the outcome was challenged because to reports of irregularities and violence in some polling stations.

As a result, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of the Ondo South Senatorial District, together with five other candidates, filed petitions to challenge Aiyedatiwa’s election.

Others included Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edoema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa.

They also sought the cancellation of the governorship primary and the holding of a new primary.
