Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has advised parents to reconsider their approach to putting their children through hard training regimens in the hopes of producing the next football superstar.
In an interview with Clique TV, as reported by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano on Monday, the French striker addressed the widespread trend of “Project Mbappé,” in which parents record hard training routines for their young children in an attempt to duplicate his success.
“Stop it! Cut everything… My parents let me have fun,” Mbappé said, emphasising the importance of allowing children to enjoy the game rather than being burdened with undue pressure.
The France international dismissed the notion that overworking young players guarantees their success.
“Just because you make him do 18 laps of the field at 8 years old doesn’t mean it’s going to change everything,” he said.
