Mbappe reinstated as PSG first team player

Kylian Mbappe scored the game-winning goal for Paris St-Germain in their Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund.

Mbappe scored from the penalty spot in 49 minutes after Nicklas Sule handled his attempt.

PSG extended their advantage when Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi connected brilliantly with midfielder Vitinha.

The French team is in Group F, alongside Newcastle and AC Milan.

PSG possessed the most possession and chances but were frustrated by Dortmund for lengthy minutes, particularly in the first half.

Vitinha came closest in the first 45 minutes, hitting the post with a looping 18-yard attempt, and Randal Kolo Muani’s drive from the edge of the box was deflected over the crossbar.

PSG believed they should have received a penalty before the break after a corner struck Sule’s hand, but were refused after a visual assistant referee (VAR) review, but the decision was reversed in the second half.

Mbappe’s close-range shot struck Sule’s hand, and VAR confirmed the on-field penalty call. Mbappe took the penalty himself and beat keeper Gregor Kobel with a low right-footed drive.

PSG secured the three points before the hour mark. Vitinha sent a beautiful backheel to Hakimi before exchanging passes with the advancing right-back.

Against his former team, Hakimi cut inside and finished with the outside of his boot, refusing to celebrate.
