Manchester United have refuted allegations that they concealed Antony’s alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend.
Antony is being investigated by police amid allegations of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, influencer, and DJ Gabriela Cavallin.
Cavallin claims Antony headbutted and punched her in a Manchester hotel room the day after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on January 14, resulting in a gash to her head and the damage of a breast implant.
Following the filing of a complaint with Greater Manchester Police, the organisation issued the following statement: Greater Manchester Police is aware of the allegations made, and inquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report.
“We will not be commenting any further at this time.”
In a statement issued on Monday, the forward stated that he is innocent and that the allegations levelled against him are baseless.
On Wednesday, Manchester United issued a statement saying, “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the police are conducting investigations.”
“Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments.
“As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact that these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse.”
Man United said on Wednesday night that a member of staff at the club arranged for a private doctor to meet Cavallin at Antony’s request.
However, the club denies any notion of a cover-up of the claims made against their player, saying “any suggestion that the club covered-up these allegations is categorically false.”
