Mohamed Salah set a new Premier League record by scoring in Liverpool’s 2024-25 opener against Ipswich Town.
Salah’s goal at Portman Road was his ninth on the first day of an English top-flight season moving him clear of Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer on the list of the Premier League’s most prolific opening-day marksmen.
Saturday game is the 350th appearance of Salah’s incredible Reds career and marks the start of his eighth season with the club.
His 65th-minute strike put Liverpool 2-0 up over Ipswich soon after Diogo Jota had opened the scoring.
His first came on his Premier League debut against Watford at the start of the 2017/18 season, and he has since scored against West Ham, Norwich twice, Leeds (a hat-trick) and Fulham on the first weekend of the season.
The only time he has drawn a blank on the first matchday during his Liverpool career was against Chelsea 12 months ago, although he did register an assist in a 1-1 draw.
