Sacha Boey signed a four-year deal at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have signed French defender Sacha Boey from Galatasaray on a four-year contract until 30 June 2028, the German champions announced on Sunday.

The 23-year-old signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray in 2021 from Stade Rennais. There were no financial details about the Bayern move, but German media reported it was worth around 30 million euros.

“This is a dream come true for me. It’s an honour for me to get to play for such a big club like Bayern. I’m really looking forward to my new team and getting to play with all these great players in the future,” Sacha Boey said after he was unveiled in Munich.

“As a player, I’m a defender who likes to attack, just as happy being involved upfront as in defence.”

Bayern were linked to Newcastle’s Keiran Trippier after Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer were injured in their midweek win over Union Berlin.

Assistant captain Joshua Kimmich was also injured in that game, while defenders Kim Min-jae and Noussair Mazraoui are on international duty and right back Bouna Sarr is also injured.

“Sacha Boey is a very quick and physically strong right-back, who covers a lot of ground in every game and doesn’t shy away from any tackles,” said Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director.

“He was a fan favourite at Galatasaray, has developed very well down the years, arrives with Champions League experience and won the league title with Galatasaray last season. He will increase our quality in defence.”
