Liverpool’s right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, insists they are “a team of winners” who will challenge for the Premier League title after Chelsea’s draw.

The Reds began their season with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, with Luis Diaz’s stunning opening goal cancelled out by Axel Disasi’s strike on his Blues debut.

Jurgen Klopp’s team dominated the first half hour but faded as the hosts got into the game, despite promising performances from a number of new players.

Despite the draw and Liverpool’s poor fifth-place finish last season, Alexander-Arnold insists the club has lofty goals.

“We’ve got a team full of winners, so to not be tipped among the contenders for the title is fine by us. We’ve brought in a World Cup winner,” he told Sky Sports after the game.

Liverpool will seek to earn their first win of the season in their next Premier League game as they lock horns at home with Bournemouth.
