Uchenna Ibeawuchi has questioned the alleged ‘deafening silence’ of the Yoruba over the economic security and security challenges bedeviling the country.
In a statement he made on X, Ibeauwuchi noted that while the Yoruba questioned the candidature of Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, he noted that they should be ashamed of the leadership style of President Bola Tinubu.
While arguing that they would have spearheaded protests if it were “Hausa, Igbo, or Ijaw” that were in power amid the present hardship in Nigeria, he noted that the first lady would have been called “shepopotemus,” alluding to the backlashes Patience Jonathan, wife of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, endured.
Ibeawuchi’s statement reads, “Obi to you is not the messiah, but are you not ashamed of what Nigeria has become?
“If Tinubu is Hausa, Igbo, or Ijaw, are you telling me you guys won’t be occupying Nigeria by now?
“Are you telling me that some elders won’t be calling the First Lady Shepopotemus?” Yoruba is our problem.”
