Minister of Works Dave Umahi and staff of the ministry engaged each other in a show of power as both locked each other in or out of office.
The minister had arrived at the office at 8 a.m., after which he ordered that no staff be allowed on the premises because they were late.
In return, the staff, who accused Umahi of being tyrannical, decided to lock up the ministry, preventing the entry and exit of anyone, including the minister.
In a viral video seen by Chronicle NG, the affected workers were angrily shouting ‘He must go!’, ‘Umahi must go!’ and ‘Solidarity forever!’ among others during their protest.
Sources said the workers claimed they lived far away from their office, a reason why they reported late to their official duties.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Works has not reacted to the development, as Nigerians have exhibited mixed reactions to the issue.
