The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. David Jimkuta, defeated Governor Darius Ishaku as the party’s senatorial candidate for Taraba South.
Prof. Adeyeye Solomon, the returning officer for the senatorial election, declared the results in Wukari on Monday, stating that Jimkuta received 85,415 votes to overcome Ishaku’s 45,708 votes.
The APC candidate received 17,607 votes in the Donga Local Government Area, according to the data from the numerous local government areas that make up the zone, while Ishaku received 10,492 votes.
In the Ibi LGA, the All Progressive Congress received 13,087 votes, while the PDP received 8,092; in Ussa/Yangtu, 22,246 votes were cast against 4,098; in Wukari, 20,892 votes were cast against 12,988; and in Takum, 11,581 votes were cast against 9,640 votes.
According to him, the All Progressive Congress candidate won in all the local government areas including the governor’s hometown of Takum.
Meanwhile, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Sen. Shu’aibu Lau, has won his re-election bid for the Taraba North Senatorial district.
Taraba North comprises six local government areas of Jalingo, Lau, Karim Lamido, Zing, Yorro, and Ardo-kola.
The Returning Officer for Taraba Northern Senatorial District, Prof. Chibiya Chingu, who is the DVC Central Administration, Federal University, Wukari, said the candidate returned elected after polling 74,645 votes to defeat his closest All Progressive Congress opponent, Sani Danladi, who netted 61,878 votes.
