Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, has started the process of moving his office away from the Government House.
This development comes after Shaibu withdrew his lawsuit before the Federal High Court last week to block what he claimed were machinations by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, to have him removed from office.
The new office is located near the Government House, at No. 7 Dennis Osadebey Avenue, Benin city.
In a letter to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, the Head of Service directed her to oversee the transfer of public personnel and files to the new office, according to sources close to the deputy governor, Chronicle NG was told by sources.
Additionally, it was learned that the new office lacks electricity, is flooded, and has extremely little office spaces, rendering it uninhabitable.
The state goverment had insisted that the deputy governor’s new office be located inside the boundaries of the building known as the Government House, though.
