Sen. Shehu Sani has called for the closure of all primary and secondary schools in the North-West.
Sani, in a statement on his X account on Saturday, noted that all academic and non-academic activities in schools in the North West should be halted in a bid to “enable security agencies” to beef up security operations in the region.
“I suggest that primary and secondary schools located in rural areas in the North West take a break for two weeks to enable security agencies to reset their operations to properly protect the schools,” Sani stated.
His comment comes after over 100 pupils and teachers of Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State, were abducted by bandits on Thursday, triggering national outrage.
The kidnappers reportedly invaded the Kuriga area of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday, shooting at their victims before taking away at least 280 of the pupils and teachers from both schools.
