Twenty-four of the Rivers Assembly’s 32 members have signed a resolution to impeach Governor Siminialayi Fubara.
They presented Fubara with an impeachment notice after impeaching and suspending House Leader Edison Ehie, who is thought to be on the Governor’s side.
The legislators made the decisions during an extraordinary session on Monday morning.
The unusual meeting took place on Monday between 7 and 9 a.m.
Although journalists were not permitted to attend the meeting, Chronicle NG learned that all 24 members who signed the impeachment notification were there.
Ehie did not attend the meeting but subsequently arrived with the Governor.
However, the event had already completed when the legislators exited the Assembly premises through the second gates before Fubara and Ehie were granted admission.
