A police officer in the Federal Capital Territory has been placed under arrest by the Police Command due to an accidental discharge that resulted in the death of Oyebuchi Anene in Abuja.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Force Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory, made this announcement on Friday in Abuja.
According to Adeh, the terrible and unusual incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the Byazhin neighbourhood of Abuja.
She claimed that an inquiry into the incident has been requested by Mr. Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory.
Adah said the Deputy Commissioner of the Force in charge of the Criminal Inquiry Department had been instructed by the CP to launch a prompt and covert inquiry into the events which led to the killing.
She said that the CP sent the departed family and the general public his sincere sympathies.
Adeh stated that the CP promised the family and the public that prompt justice would be served, but it also denounced the police officer’s unprofessional and depressing behaviour.
