Three abducted victims have been rescued, and a notorious kidnapper was arrested by the operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command.
This was revealed in a statement released in Kaduna on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP, Mansir Hassan.
He identified the victims that had been rescued, who include Ashiru Abubakar, a 35-year-old man from Batagarawa LGA in Katsina State; Ahmed Ibrahim, a 35-year-old man from Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State; and Shehu Kabiru, a 30-year-old man from Kidandan.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer of Kidandan Division got a distress call on May 21 at approximately 14:50 hours, according to the police spokesman, informing them that unknown bandits had blocked the Kidandan-Dogon Dawa Road and abducted an undefined number of people.
He added that the DPO swiftly mobilised personnel from the Police Mobile Force, who were attached to Operation Whirl Punch in Galadimawa, and proceeded to the scene in an armoured personnel vehicle.
Hassan said, “Upon arrival, the police team engaged the bandits in a serious gun battle.
“Although the bandits managed to deflate two tyres of the APV, the police team successfully rescued three kidnapped individuals.”
In a similar vein, Hassan reported that on Tuesday at around 1900 hours, the Operation Yaki operatives, acting on technical intelligence provided by the Technical Intelligence Unit FHQ Abuja, successfully arrested one Muhammadu Bello, a 30-year-old resident of the Yan Bokolo area, Malalin Gabas, Igabi LGA, of the state.
According to Hassan, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is an accomplice to Dogo Haliru, a notorious kidnapper known for terrorising Zamfara, Katsina State.
