The leader of a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Simon Ekpa, has reportedly been arrested by police authorities in Finland on Thursday.
Only 48 hours before the Nigerian elections, Ekpa was arrested. A Finnish news source, HS, said that the police led the separatist from his Lahti apartment.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Finland, Keskusrikospoliisi (KRP), had a police operation at a private residence in the heart of Lahti, according to criminal investigator Tommi Reen of the Central Criminal Police.
Reen said the operation was connected to an ongoing preliminary investigation. He did not comment further on the matter.
