A 14-year-old girl was charged by the Lagos police on Tuesday with stealing N4 million in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, whose address is unknown, entered a not guilty plea to the two counts of stealing and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 31 at 12.01 p.m. at the Ajara Tozunkanmeh area of Badagry, Lagos State.

He claimed that by using a spare key to enter Mrs. Hannah Oni’s home without her permission, the defendant acted in a way that was likely to disturb the peace.

According to Adeosun, the complainant’s N4 million was stolen by the defendant.

“This is not the first time the defendant will be entering the room of the complainant with a spare key to steal money.

“On that very day, Bayewunmi was caught inside the house of the complainant stealing money.

“The defendant was handed over to police for prosecution,” he said.

According to Adeosun, the offences were under Sections 168 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law.

The defendant was given N300,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya, along with one surety who had to be the defendant’s father.

The magistrate adjourned the case until March 5 for mention.
