The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Dr. Samaila Kaila has been proclaimed the winner of the Bauchi North Senatorial District election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The results were announced in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, Tuesday morning by the returning officer, Prof. Ahmad Set’le.
According to him, Kaila received 102,043 votes to defeat Sirajo Tanko of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who received 100,246.
“Dr. Kaila of the Peoples Democratic Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” he announced.
Meanwhile, INEC has declared Mr. Auwalu Gwalabe of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the Katagum federal constituency seat.
Prof. Abdulsalami Gital, the Returning Officer, declared that Gwalabe emerged victorious with 28,154 votes over his closest opponent, Ghali Abdulhamid, who scored 17,751 votes.
