The Nigerian police have arrested a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent out on a mission to buy votes in the course of voting in the Osun governorship election.
The agent, identified as Adeagbo Wasiu was caught with a PDP ‘Party Agent’ polling agent tag during the accreditation.
According to a post on the official NPF Twitter handle, the bag contained N116, 000 and that investigation was ongoing.
“Arrest of one Mr Adeagbo Wasiu, a suspected PDP chieftain at Ward 8 Unit 9 Fiwasaye Area of Osogbo.

“He was apprehended in the act of votes buying and the sum of One Hundred and Sixteen Thousand (116,000) was recovered from him. Investigation is ongoing,” the police tweeted.

Mr Wasiu was not the only person nabbed in vote buying during the election.
The duo of Adebayo Rafiu and Muraian Latif, were caught with a sack with the inscription: ‘Senator Isiaka Adeleke Free Rice’, in Iwo.
They also had N640,000 in their possession at the time of their arrest by police.

An update on the arrest said the men claimed they were given the money by their ward chairman, to buy votes.
