The Lagos State government has arrested nine individuals for open urination and defecation.
In a crackdown on public indecency, the defaulters were arrested for engaging in open defecation and urination in the Berger area of the state.
This was made known in a statement shared by the Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a terse post on X.com on Saturday.
He wrote, “Nine individuals were arrested for open urination and defecation at Berger last night.”
Wahab had earlier disclosed that 17 individuals were arrested on Thursday night at Berger for open urination, defecation, and not using the pedestrian bridge.
The state government’s zero-tolerance stance on open defecation is part of its broader efforts to maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for residents.
The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources also commenced cleanup of the Ojodu-Berger highway median as part of its effort to end open defecation.
