NiMet strongly advised the use of face masks as a protective measure against dust haze

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted the likelihood of dust haze on Friday nationwide.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Friday, in Abuja predicted the prevalence of dust haze across various regions of the country.

The agency attributed this to a high concentration of dust in the atmosphere.

It added that horizontal visibility will range between 2km and 5km in most areas.

However, few locations within the northern regions may encounter poorer visibility, with distances as low as 1,000m or even less.

The report read, “Due to the high concentration of dust in the atmosphere, dust haze is still expected to prevail over most parts of the country come Friday, with a reasonable visibility of two to five kilometres.

“Considering the unhealthy air quality across these regions, the public is strongly advised to use face masks as a protective measure.”

NIMET advised individuals to be mindful of the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential health risks associated with the prevailing haze.
