    Two persons have been burnt beyond recognition while three others sustained injuries in an early morning tanker explosion at Ilo Awela area of Sango on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

    ChronicleNG gathered that 12 vehicles were also affected in the incident that happened at Sango-Ota Old Toll Gate Plaza, along the Lagos-Abeokuta road, Ogun state.

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day, leaving three persons with burns.

    FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, told newsmen that the tanker was ascending the Ilo Awele slope, adjoining the Abeokuta-Lagos section of the expressway, when it fell around 1:30am, spilled its content and went up in flames.

    “FRSC carried out a rescue operation at about 1:30 am Thursday morning when a Tanker laden with PMS while ascending Ilo Awela slope adjoining Abeokuta– Lagos section of the expressway , fell and went into flame”.

    “Men of the fire service were contacted immediately and the area was cordoned to prevent secondary crash”.

    “As at 4: 05 am, a total of 12 vehicles were involved. They comprised of three luxurious buses, four tricycles, three motorcycles, one yellow bus and a tanker”.

    She added that “the suspected cause of the multiple crashes was mechanical deficiency”
