    Nigeria announces 556 new coronavirus case

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 556 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday.

    The 556 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 36663.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 167 patients from isolation centers across the country with 11 new deaths reported.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 97 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 13438.

    But it was Edo state that recorded the highest number of cases for the day with 104 cases. The south south state now has 1989 cases.

    Federal Capital Territory recorded 70 new cases, Benue reported 66 new cases while Oyo, Kaduna and Plateau recorded 61, 38 and 28 new cases respectively.

    Other states are Plateau-28, Osun-19, Akwa Ibom-14, Rivers-13, Katsina-13, Ondo-13, Ogun-6, Kano-5, Nasarawa-4, Gombe-2, Ekiti-2 and Borno-1

    NCDC reports that there are 36107 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 15105 discharged and 789 deaths.
