The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 1kg of cannabis hidden inside Milo tins.
On Sunday, Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy, issued a statement confirming the incident.
In a cautionary letter accompanying the video, Babafemi emphasized the necessity of not accepting parcels without knowing the contents.
Sharing a video of the consignment, he wrote, “Reason why we advise you shouldn’t take any parcel you don’t know its content from anyone.
“A man attempted sending drugs concealed in Milo tins through two of his friends to Europe.
”Another one tried the same with a passenger at the airport, all in a matter of days.
“But for their vigilance… Well, the mastermind of the Lagos airport saga hibernating in Ghana and his agent in the viral airport video are now in #ndlea_nigeria custody.”
In an official statement release on Sunday, the NDLEA stated that ”Two vigilant freight agents and a traveler escaped being roped into two drug trafficking operations by desperate traffickers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos.
”The two agents were contacted to send a consignment of 1kg cannabis concealed in tins of Milo beverage to Turkey but chose to submit the shipment to NDLEA checks before processing the cargo.
”The psychoactive substance was later discovered to be hidden inside the shipment.”
