Many were reportedly feared dead in a clash between the Oodua Peoples Congress, Amotekun, Operation Burst, Soludero, and a group of herdsmen in the Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Monday.
Though the cause of the conflict was still sketchy at the time of filing this report, according to a reliable source, a group of herders raided a farm in the neighbourhood with their cattle and grazed on it, resulting in the death of the farm’s owner during the argument.
According to reports, it was further gathered that combined security operatives of Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun, and Soludero were informed to restore peace in the area, but they were allegedly ambushed by herdsmen.
The number of those killed is yet to be ascertained.
All efforts to get the state police public relations officer’s reaction were unsuccessful, as he was not picking up his call or responding to text messages sent to his mobile number at the time of filing this report.
