Lagos State has been described as one of the dirtiest and most unhealthy states to live in in Nigeria.
Alleging that “people in Lagos cannot be healthy,” an X user, simply identified as Imohremi in a statement on X, noted that the air in Lagos is “putrid”.
Speaking during her visit to the City of Excellence, Imohremi stated that the state stinks.
“You people in Lagos cannot be healthy.
“Even the stupid island stinks to hell. How do you people cope?
“One week in Lagos state and I am already having a cough and respiratory disease. How do you all cope?,” she stated.
Supporting her assertion, Darleen said, “She’s right. If you spend some time out of Lagos state, then you will have a first-hand experience of what she is talking about.”
Another X user identified as Yung King also confirmed the claims when he said, “I stay in Lagos state. Truth be told, Lagos state is dirty; the agberos used to poo on the railway even in broad daylight.”
For Desire, he noted that there is too much pollution in the state.
“As someone who lives in Lagos state, it’s only okay to find this offensive, but over time you’ve grown accustomed to the smell, the odour, and the pollution in the air.
“But it’s true; for anyone coming to Lagos state for the first time, even if you’re not observant, you’ll be able to pick this up,” Desire noted.
Attributing the “unhealthy environment” in the state to the bad drainage system, King Fex argued that the “truth is that many parts of Lagos stink because of the drainages, and this is not peculiar to Lagos alone.
“I have experienced this in many other states, and when I was in Accra a few days ago, a lot of places stink too. Its because of the drainage system we practice in most parts of Africa.”
