The Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State government has announced the launch of its on-street parking scheme, set to begin in October.
The scheme will impose hourly fines on cars parked on designated streets.
A notice from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) dated July 19 and signed by Head of Operations Ayokunle Akinrimisi was sent to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) chapter chairman.
The notice further stated that steps would be taken against indiscriminately parked cars.
The notice stated, “I am directed to inform your revered organisation that the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) will be commencing its on-street parking scheme at designated streets within the Lagos State metropolis.”
It further stated, “Vehicles parked on designated streets by the church and its members will be charged hourly, and indiscriminately parked vehicles will be enforced accordingly.”
LASPA emphasised that law-abiding organisations should comply with the directive.
However, the notice did not indicate the specific cost that would be levied.
