Jacob Agada, a retired official of the Nigerian Immigration Service, was shot and killed by gunmen in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, who are thought to be kidnappers.
A few hours after Agada was taken hostage by the gunmen who set up barricades at Ombi II, Lafia on Thursday night and abducted him, he was discovered dead.
At around 9 o’clock in the evening, the victim was apparently on his way home when he was kidnapped by the thugs, who later left his lifeless body nearby on Friday morning.
A family source bemoaned the escalating level of insecurity in the neighbourhood and urged the appropriate authorities to act quickly to protect the lives and property of locals.
The source who added that the late Agada was 64 years old, expressed sadness over his untimely death while urging the security agencies to investigate the circumstances which led to his death and arrest the perpetrators of the act.
When our correspondent contacted the Police Public Relations Officers in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, to get the reaction of the command, he simply said, “We are yet to receive any official information on the matter.”
