Five supervising officials from the Borno State government have been abducted by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The victims, who were supervising the construction of the Chibok-Damboa road, were kidnapped on Wednesday.
The incident happened near Wovi, a small village in the Chibok Local Government Area.
One of the abducted employees, a driver, escaped unharmed, according to a source who spoke to the Daily Trust.
“Yes, it is so sad, and we are concerned about the latest developments,” a top state official confirmed.
“We were taken aback by the abductions. I can confirm that they were kidnapped this morning.”
