The National Emergency Management Agency has revealed that the Tuesday night explosion in Bodija of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, damaged around 20 residences.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NEMA stated that no casualty estimates were currently available.
It was also reported that the explosion was triggered by a suspected improvised explosive device.
On Tuesday night, terror seized Ibadan residents as an explosion happened on Dejo Oyelese Street in the city’s Bodija area.
“Over 20 houses were affected. Casualty figures cannot be ascertained for now. Search and rescue operation is still ongoing,” the agency said.
NEMA, however, assured residents of the state that security has been beefed up in the area while arrangements for more support to facilitate the operations are in progress, saying, “The situation has been brought under control while arrangements are going on to ensure smooth operation.”
