HRH Eze Samuel Ohiri, former Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
The traditional ruler of Odumara Orodo autonomous community in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State, was kidnapped Saturday at 8.15 a.m. within his jurisdiction.
According to reports, four kidnappers, armed with a green Toyota Highlander jeep, stormed the village and abducted the former Ezeimo, while his cousin fled.
According to the reports, the kidnappers snatched Ezeimo and drove to the Umaka-Orlu road.
In response to the event, the Imo State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, stated that an intensive investigation has begun to determine the circumstances behind the tragedy.
In a statement made in Owerri on Saturday via WhatsApp, the PPRO stated that the command has taken positive initiatives to ensure the victim’s rescue.
He promised that the criminals would be apprehended and face the full force of the law.
He stated that developments on the matter would be shared in due course.
