President Bola Tinubu stated on Monday that he has absolute confidence in his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Tinubu declared this prior to the start of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, and also established the ground rules for attendance.
The President addressed issues that he had witnessed and was not comfortable with, such as unauthorized persons entering the Council Chambers.
He said, “First of all, let me reiterate to all of you the fact that a lot of stories are going around about what is happening. I’ve told everyone in this country that I can make mistakes; they’re bound to air them out and correct them.
“Perfection is that of God Almighty. I have absolute confidence in the integrity of my chief of staff (Femi Gbajabiamila). All campaigns of calumny and insinuations should stop; the buck stops here.
“If I make a mistake, I’m ready to own up to it, and we’re all joining hands to fight corruption, and we want to enforce the law along with you”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Council observed a minute of silence in memory of Alhaji Adamu Fika, a former member of the FEC and one-time Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, who died last week at the age of 90.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan; the President’s Chief of Staff, Honourable Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and virtually all ministers are present at the Council meeting.
