According to reports, a fire event in Kafanchan town, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killed a couple and their daughter while they were sleeping.
Residents claimed they only noticed smoke emanating from the home on Tuesday night at around 11 p.m., so details of what started the fire incident are still vague.
All attempts to save the family from the flames by those who arrived at the home, according to Maikano Abdullahi, a neighbour of the victims who also lost property in the blaze.
According to him, the flames began around 11:03 p.m.
“I woke up upon hearing my wife shouting for help as fire gutted Zainab’s room which is next to our room.
”What happened was terrible. We tried our best to break the door at the time of the fire incident but we couldn’t enter because the door was locked. Unfortunately, the couple; Abdurrahman Abdullahi aka Danjummai, his wife, Zainab Nuhu, and their daughter, Husna, all lost their lives in the inferno before we succeeded in breaking the door,” he said
He explained that those around could hear the wife’s scream for help, lamenting that they couldn’t do anything to help as the flames had gutted the room.
The deceased, Danjummai, is a staff with Nigeria Railway Corporation.
The Jama’a Emirate Council through the Madakin Jama’a and the District Head of Fada, Alhaji Audi Muhammad, and the Council Chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Yunana Barde, paid a condolence visit to the family members of the deceased at their home in Jema’a Street, Kafanchan after the burial according to Islamic rites.
