The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over what it described as “bogus and highly speculative” election figures being circulated on social media by certain political parties regarding the ongoing Edo State Gubernatorial Election.
The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, has urged the electorate and the general public to disregard these reports, clarifying that collation is still actively in progress.
In a press statement by Morka, the APC emphasized that collation at the Ward level has yet to be concluded, and Local Government collation in most LGAs is yet to commence.
“Certainly, Local Government level collation has yet to begin in most of the LGAs in the state let alone concluded,” the statement read.
Morka reiterated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains the only authorized body to announce the official results of the election.
“Consistent with the Electoral Act, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the sole authorized body empowered to collate results at the Ward, Local Government, and State levels, and to officially declare the result of the Election,” Morka said.
While expressing confidence in their party’s position, Morka made it clear that the APC will not attempt to preempt the process.
“Our great Party is comfortably in an early lead, however, as a responsible Party, we will not attempt to preempt INEC’s conclusion of the election process and official declaration of final results,” he added.
The APC urged members of the public to disregard any misleading reports and await the official announcement from INEC.
The Edo State Gubernatorial Election has drawn significant attention, and as collation continues, all eyes remain on the official results from INEC.
