Seven officers of the Nigerian Navy have been kidnapped by armed bandits in Edo state.
The Naval officers were waylaid along Sapele-Warri road while on transit from Delta to Kaduna state.
The officers were ambushed and abducted along Sapele-Warri road while travelling to Delta from Kaduna State.
The Edo state police command confirmed the incident stating that five of the officers have been rescued.
According to the public relations officer of the command, the police was working assiduously to ensure the safe return of the remaining officers.
In the past few months, Hoodlums have taken to the county’s highways to ambush, kidnap or kill Nigeria’s service men.
Less than a month ago, a Major General of the Nigerian Army was killed on his way back to Abuja from his hometown in Kogi state.
Also, two days ago, Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped 2 soldiers, on their way to Kano from Maiduguri.
As of the time of filing this report, the soldiers were yet to be rescued.
Several other reports of killings, kidnappings and maiming have been reported, questioning the security architecture of the nation at this critical point in time.
