The deputy speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Jamilu Barade has been sacked by an appellate court on Monday.
The election of Barade, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain who represents Bauchi Central State Constituency was challenged by his opponent at the polls, Aliyu Ilela of All Progressives Congress (APC).
A three-man panel of justices in their ruling upheld the judgment of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal that nullified the election.
Chronicle NG reports that the justices ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a rerun election following claims that there was over-voting in the previous election.
The court also ordered INEC to retrieve the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Barade and conduct a rerun election in the affected polling units.
The judgment of the appellate court comes after the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sulaiman was sacked by the Appeal Court.
