Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu, has formally delegated powers to deputy governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as he embarked on sabbatical medical leave.
Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa will assume the responsibilities of the Governor in an acting capacity.
Richard Olatunde, Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, said in a statement that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria will prioritize his health and ensure a full recovery before resuming his official duties.
The statement partly reads, “Ondo State Governor, Akeredolu, SAN, CON, will commence his medical leave on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, as a follow-up to his medical treatment.”
Chronicle NG reports that Akeredolu has handed over power while embarking on previous vacations for the sixth time since April 1, 2021, according to the statement read.
“A formal letter regarding the medical leave and a notice formally transferring power in line with the Nigerian Constitution will be transmitted to the House of Assembly, Olatunde said.”
The medically bound governor expresses his gratitude for the unwavering support and affection of the people of Ondo State and assures them that his administration remains committed to the path of progress and prosperity for the people.
