    44 people have been confirmed dead after the 21 storey building collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos

    Many persons have been feared dead after a 21-storey building collapsed in Lagos State.

    The building is located off Alexander way, Gerrard Road, Ikoyi.

    The structure which was reportedly under construction gave way, trapping an unspecified number of construction workers in the rubble.

    At the time of filing this report, no rescue effort had been made as only a small team of policemen and an ambulance were seen in the area two hours after the incident.

    It was also gathered that earth moving equipment was yet to arrive the scene.
