The chairman and founder of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has suffered criticism from Nigerians over the deaths of no fewer than 20 people, including students in Imo State.
On Saturday, a heavy-duty truck reportedly owned by Dangote rammed into three fully loaded mini-buses containing students and locals at Imo State University Junction, killing at least 20 people on the spot.
It was also reported that some first-year students returning from a late-hour examination died in the accident.
The news and videos of the accident were shared by Dr. Penking (@drpenking) and X influencers, who captioned them, “Dangote trailer just killed more than 20 people at Imo State University Junction.” Why always Dangote trailer?”
Videos of the gory scene of the accident have since stirred the irk of Nigerians, who mentioned that before this incident, many such accidents involving trucks from the company had claimed the lives of many.
Describing the accident as “a gory sight,” Unwana Assam mentioned that “Dangote Trucks have killed more people than any other company in Nigeria.”
Commenting on the accident, Uche Obadike said, “Always a Dangote truck. Anywhere a truck is involved in an accident and people are killed, it’s always a Dangote truck. Year in and year out. And there is no compensation for the bereaved families.
“Henceforth, any truck that kills people should be dealt with. This should make the drivers careful.”
In his reaction, Ate Oghenetega noted, “I don’t know when we will begin to see @DangoteCement and @DangoteGroup as a mortuary group.
“Over the years, Dangote trailers have killed people and have turned hundreds into physically challenged people, especially on East-West (Delta to Rivers State).”
“Dangote Trailer almost killed me and my friend in 2016. They cause a lot of problems on the road, and nothing will happen,” Tochukwu Nwafor notes.
For Chunyuda, he argued in his reaction, saying, “Dangote trucks should be checked seriously. I know why I am saying this. Dangote should be called to order concerning this issue; it is getting out of hand. ”
While Akinwumi Olutayo described it as a “yearly ritual,” Godson Daniels mentioned “the sacrifice they make for their wealth.”
Thank God Orji also alleged that it was through bloodshed that he made his money.
Cjay Akabike also mentioned that “Dangote trailers have killed more Nigerians than the company has employed.
“If Dangote is not stopped, he will continue using Nigerians as sacrifices for his Illuminati organization.”
Another X user, simply identified as Bill, stated that “Dangote is lucky. His truck killed innocent Nigerians with reckless abandon, yet there was no lawsuit against him or his company and no compensation to the victim’s families or loved ones.
“Neither he nor his company ever acknowledged these deaths. It can only happen in Nigeria.”
