    Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district has been bestowed with the Senator of the Year award over the weekend.

    Melaye, a member of the opposition PDP beat Senate President Bukola Saraki and all other lawmakers in the upper chamber.

    The award was bestowed on him by Weekender Magazine at an elaborate ceremony.

    Known for his many controversies, Senator Melaye has had many battles with the police and other security agencies in Nigeria.

    He even allegedly faked his own illness once to evade arrest after a warrant was issued to that effect.
