I’ll seek psychological help – Richarlison

Richarlison of Tottenham Hotspur says he will “seek psychological help” when he returns to England following the international break.

Richarlison was seen in tears after being replaced during Brazil’s 5-1 victory over Bolivia on Saturday.

He attributed his reaction to “getting the things that were happening off the pitch out of my system.”

Richarlison has only scored four goals in 40 outings for Spurs since coming from Everton for £60 million last summer.

“I had a turbulent time off the pitch over the last five months,” he told the Brazilian publication O Globo.

“At home, things are a little more stable now. People who were solely interested in my money are no longer close to me.

“Things are going to flow now, and I’m confident that I’ll have a good run at Tottenham and make things happen once more.”

“I’m going back to England to seek psychological help from a psychologist in order to strengthen my mind.” That’s what it’s all about: coming back stronger.”

Richarlison had a fantastic chance before being removed in the 71st minute of Belem’s home World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, and he was replaced 64 minutes into Tuesday’s 1-0 triumph over Peru in Lima.

O Globo said Richarlison has parted ways with long-term agent Renato Velasco.

“That moment of sadness wasn’t about playing poorly,” Richarlison explained.

“I didn’t think I played a bad match in Belem.” It was more about getting things off the pitch out of my system, which had spiralled out of control due to individuals close to me, than anything I’d done.”

Brazil will face Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier on October 13 and Uruguay on October 18.

On Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur will play Sheffield United in the Premier League.

“I think I’ll be in the next (Brazil) lineup; that’s what I’m working toward,” Richarlison said.

“It’s about putting together a good run at Tottenham.” I’m going to sit down with them and talk to them. I need to get into the rhythm of the game and settle in.”
